I made the appointment for Daniel’s biopsy. It will January 12th. That’s a Tuesday. It is a 2 to 3 day hospital stay. The Doctor will drill a small hole in his scull and burrow down through his brain matter in the pathway doctors use for place shunts. It is a well known procedure and our doctor specializes in it. He will take a little piece from the lining and hopefully the cyst will drain and no longer be a problem. We decided to go ahead with the surgery because the cyst continues to grow and the doctor was beginning to wonder if it could be something else. He said that it is either do the surgery now or we have made the decision to wait until it causes problems. Personally, I don't want to see the problems it will cause. Things like vomitting, dizziness, headaches and lethargy. It will also make it easier when he gets sick so I am not worrying that it might be his cyst. I am actually kind of looking forward to getting this taken care of.
Daniel is totally excited about Christmas. He told me this morning, “Santa” with a big bright smile. He has been good about not opening the presents. He has been a bit confused about it though. The day school was out he wanted to open the Christmas Eve gifts. We showed him on the calendar and he has that chain thing that the first graders make as an advent calendar. He finally understood that Mary and Joseph had to reach the top before it was Christmas. We showed him several times and I guess it finally clicked.
John discovered Chris’ cell phone today and asked if he could write a letter to Santa on it. Chris ended up doing the typing. John asked for a bunch of Yu Gi Oh card stuff like a deck of spell cards, a deck of monster cards I don’t really know what all. After listing off a bunch of different cards I asked him if he would like a starter deck. He added that to the list. I hope starter decks have all the stuff he wants because that is what we got him.
This last Tuesday at Little Gym while they were busy, I bought John and Daniel Karate clothes. They noticed I wasn’t at the window watching and tried to come out. I had the help of some of the other parents getting them back in the gym. I took the stuff out to my trunk. After the class Daniel looked quizzically at me and asked, “Where Karate? Where Karate?” I sort of pretended I didn’t know what he was talking about, which in actuality I’m not really sure what that means, but I can sort of guess he saw me buying the clothes. I guess those won’t be coming from Santa.
It snowed here on December 4th for the first time in 5 years. We asked Eric to help John and Daniel make a snowman. It is a miracle there is enough snow for that, but here are the pictures to prove it. Eric said it wasn't very cold outside. He is the one in shorts.
